First Quests and Combat
How to accept quests, read the Quest List, and understand the basics of early combat.
Quests and combat are connected: quests give you structured objectives, and combat is often how you progress through kill objectives.
Accepting your first quest
When a quest choice appears, the quest modal provides two button labels:
- Accept
- Reject
Choose Accept if you want to start the quest. Choose Reject if you do not want to take it right now.
Quest objectives can include:
- kill objectives, where defeated targets count toward the quest
- interaction objectives, where you talk to NPCs or interact with objects
- interaction objectives that may require specific items
Reading the Quest List
Open Quest List from the menu. The quest log has two tabs:
- Active Quests
- Completed Quests
It also has a Compact View setting. Active quests include quests that are available or in progress. Completed quests show finished quests.
If there are no quests in a tab, the UI may show:
- “No active quests available.”
- “No completed quests available.”
Quest status basics
Quest status labels are:
- Pending — available or not yet started
- InProgress — active with incomplete objectives
- Completed — objectives are finished and ready for rewards where that quest supports them
Quest rewards can include items. Do not assume a specific quest grants spells, experience bonuses, or currency unless that quest page confirms it.
Combat basics
Definya has both PvE and PvP combat, but beginners should start by thinking about PvE combat.
Confirmed combat concepts:
- attacks require your character and target to be alive and valid
- melee attacks require adjacent range
- ranged attacks use line-of-sight and distance checks
- physical and magic damage use separate calculations
- shields and equipment can affect defensive calculations
- XP from an NPC is shared with characters who contributed damage
An attack can fail when requirements are not met, such as invalid targets, range issues, or protected-zone restrictions.
Loot after combat
When an NPC dies, it can leave a body container with loot. Loot may include gold, crafting materials, food, equipment, and spell tomes depending on the NPC. See Mobs, Items, and Spells for current details.
Beginner combat checklist
- Keep Inventory space available before going out.
- Watch your health and mana.
- Fight enemies appropriate for your early level.
- Open Quest List and prioritize Active Quests.
- If a quest asks for kills, stay in the relevant area until the objective updates.
- If a quest asks for interaction, return to the relevant NPC or object.
