Getting Started
A beginner path for creating your character, entering the game, and following early tutorials.
Welcome to Definya. This guide focuses on the first choices you see and the safest path into the game without assuming hidden mechanics.
1. Choose how you want to create a character
The character creation screen offers two choices:
- Quick Create — described in the UI as “Pre-configured combo — shuffle, pick your look, play.” It is marked Recommended and 2 Steps.
- Advanced — described as “Full control over faction, race, class & appearance.” It is 4 Steps.
If you are new, start with Quick Create. You can still edit your Name, adjust the Build tokens, roll a name, shuffle the build, and change your appearance before entering.
2. Pick a name and build
In Quick Create, the visible fields are:
- Name
- Build
- Standard Mode
- I want to customize everything →
The game checks that your character name is at least 4 characters long. If it is not, you may see: “Character name cannot be empty and must be at least 4 characters long”.
Build options come from faction, race, and class selections. The current beginner-facing options confirmed in the creation UI and hook include:
- Factions: Life Bringer, Shadow Walker
- Life Bringer races in starter combos: Human, Elf, Dwarf
- Shadow Walker races in starter combos: Human, Orc, Minotaur
- Classes in starter combos: Warrior, Berserker, Sorcerer, Druid, Hunter, Rogue
For full reference later, use the class, race, and faction wiki pages: Classes, Races, and Factions.
3. Understand the creation steps
Quick Create uses:
- Quick Create
- Community
Advanced uses:
- Basic Info
- Build
- Community
- Appearance
The final button label is Create & Enter Game.
4. Follow tutorials as they appear
The tutorial system has two layers:
- simple contextual hints for specific actions
- advanced multi-slide tutorials that unlock as your character progresses
The advanced tutorial progression begins with Introduction at level 1, then continues with topics such as Fishing, Blacksmithing, Lumberjacking, Farming, Quest, and CraftingMechanics in later early levels.
Treat these in-game tutorials as the primary first-time learning path. This written guide is a companion, not a replacement.
5. Learn the main menu labels
The beginner systems you will open often use these exact UI labels:
- Inventory
- Equipment
- Quest List
- Crafting Book
- Spellbook
- Chat
- Party & Guild
Good first goals
- Create your character with Quick Create.
- Open Inventory and Equipment so you know where items and gear appear.
- Open Quest List and check Active Quests.
- Try combat only against appropriate early enemies and watch your health and mana.
- Keep the Chat available if you need help from other players.
