Mana Shield

How Mana Shield works, who can cast it, and what happens when damage reaches your mana pool.

By Definya Team

Mana Shield is a defensive mage spell that redirects incoming damage from health to mana while it is active.

Spell details

Current spell values:

  • name: Mana Shield
  • magic words: mana scutum
  • casting type: SelfCasting
  • classes: Sorcerer, Druid
  • mana cost: 65
  • cooldown: 120
  • minimum character level: 10
  • minimum magic level: 10

What it does

While active, incoming damage is handled by the mana shield first. Current gameplay converts shielded damage into mana loss at a one-to-one ratio.

If the damage is greater than your remaining mana, the excess damage spills over to health.

Mana Shield is integrated with:

  • normal incoming hits
  • damage-over-time effect damage through entity effect handling
  • spell state storage for active character spells

Duration

Mana Shield duration is calculated from your Magic skill. The current range is:

  • minimum duration: 20 seconds
  • maximum duration: 120 seconds

The exact duration depends on your character’s Magic skill at cast time.

Feedback messages

Confirmed player messages include:

  • 🛡️ A protective shield of magical energy surrounds you!
  • ⏳ Your mana shield is flickering... 10 seconds remaining!
  • ⏳ Your mana shield is fading fast... 5 seconds left!
  • 🛡️ Your mana shield has expired.

Practical use

  • Cast Mana Shield before risky pulls or PvP pressure, not after your health is already low.
  • Watch your mana: the shield uses your mana as the defensive resource.
  • If your mana runs out, remaining damage can still hit health.
  • The Spellbook can prevent obvious failed casts with Not enough mana! or This spell is on cooldown!.
