Social Crystals
How to earn and spend Social Crystals — bounty hunting, faction war, login streaks, map travel gates, and high-tier crafting costs.
Overview
Social Crystals are a stackable inventory currency used for map access, high-tier crafting, and other progression gates. They are separate from Gold (carried and traded in the marketplace) and Definya Coin (DC) (stored in your account-level DC Wallet).
Crystals live in your character inventory like other items. They stack heavily, but you still need free slots or depot space when large rewards arrive.
Most players treat crystals as a long-term planning currency: earn them from PvP and scheduled events, then spend them deliberately on routes and crafts you care about.
How to earn Social Crystals
Bounty hunting (main PvP source)
The primary earn loop is defeating players who still have an active skull. When a claim succeeds, crystals are added to your inventory and you may see a message such as:
🏆 BOUNTY CLAIMED! You received 8 Social Crystals for eliminating PlayerName (Red skull, Notorious threat)!
Base payouts start from skull color, then bonuses can raise the total:
| Skull color | Base reward | Typical minimum payout |
|---|---|---|
| White | 1 crystal | 1 crystal |
| Yellow | 2 crystals | 3 crystals |
| Red | 4 crystals | 5 crystals |
Bonuses can include kill-count, streak, and recent-activity multipliers. Yellow and Red skull targets also trigger global bounty alerts when they log in.
See Bounty Hunter and Skull Targets for alert rules, safe-kill requirements, blocked payouts, and hunter tips. Skull basics live on PvP, Skulls, and Death.
Faction war
Weekly Faction War pays Social Crystals based on your kill count and whether your faction won. The war runs 60 minutes on Wednesdays starting at 15:00 BRT (18:00 UTC) between Life Bringer and Shadow Walker.
| Result | Crystal formula | Example (10 kills) |
|---|---|---|
| Winner side | kills × 2 + 5 | 25 crystals |
| Loser side | floor(kills / 2) | 5 crystals |
| Draw | Both sides use the winner formula | 25 crystals each |
| 0 kills | No crystal reward | — |
The top three killers across both factions can also receive random gems. Faction war kills are a safe PvP context — they do not grant skulls or bounty payouts on their own.
See Faction War Event Guide and Social and Multiplayer Overview for schedule, scoring, and coordination context.
Login streak milestones
Long login streaks can grant crystals even if you avoid PvP:
- Day 21 — bonus slot with roughly a 65% chance for 1–3 crystals (scales with level tier).
- Day 30 — guaranteed crystal stack (3 early / 5 mid / 8 late tier) plus other milestone rewards.
Details and tier tables are on Login Streak Rewards.
Daily tasks
Crystals can appear as bonus payouts — they are not guaranteed:
- Completing the global daily-task reward (all three tasks done) has a 20% chance to grant 1–2 crystals.
- Individual Challenge tasks have a 15% base chance for 1–2 crystals; tier 20+ tasks add +10% chance (capped at 25% total).
Bonus crystals are skipped silently if your inventory is full, so leave space before turning in tasks when you are farming bonuses.
See Quests and Daily Tasks Overview.
Store packs
The in-game store sells Social Crystals (100x) packs for real money (and may show a computed DC price). Fulfillment delivers crystals to the purchasing character’s inventory like any other stackable item.
See In-Game Store and DC Purchases — Crystal packs.
How to spend Social Crystals
Map travel gates
Some walk-over map transitions require Social Crystals before you enter the destination. When the check fails, you see:
You do not have enough social crystals to proceed to this map.
How the gate works:
- Crystal costs are configured per destination map. Each map can define its own price; maps with price 0 are treated as free-tier areas.
- The check applies to free accounts leaving a free-tier map and entering a destination that charges crystals.
- Premium accounts (Bronze and above) bypass the Social Crystal requirement for these transitions.
- When you pass validation, the required crystals are consumed from your inventory as part of the transition.
- Teleport items, spells, and spawn teleports use a separate queue path that skips transition validation — only stepping on transition tiles runs the crystal check.
If you are blocked, the game may also show a more specific message such as needing a premium account or more crystals for that route. Read the exact error before assuming the transition is broken.
See Maps, Transitions, and Weather and World and Exploration Overview.
High-tier crafting
Crafting can require Social Crystals in two ways:
1. Automatic tier gate (most high-end gear)
For many craftable items at tier 5 and above, the server injects an extra Social Crystal cost on top of normal recipe materials. Exemptions include basic crafting resources, food, potions, and ammunition.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Minimum item tier | 5 |
| Formula | floor(itemTier × 3.5) crystals |
| Maximum per craft | 30 crystals |
Examples:
| Item tier | Social Crystals required |
|---|---|
| 5 | 17 |
| 6 | 21 |
| 7 | 24 |
| 8 | 28 |
| 9+ | 30 (cap) |
2. Explicit recipe materials
Some recipes also list Social Crystals directly in their ingredient list (for example Windstrider Boots, Voltstep Boots, Gaias Soleplate, and Brutal Chopper Axe each require 10 crystals in addition to metal, gems, and other mats). Always check the Recipes database before committing materials.
Crafting consumes crystals from your inventory when the craft succeeds. Premium crafting output bonuses from DC, Premium, and Vouchers affect quantities produced, not the crystal cost.
See Crafting and Gathering Overview and Crafting, Gathering and Farming.
Social Crystals vs other currencies
| Currency | Storage | Typical earn | Typical spend |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gold | Inventory item | Loot, quests, sales | NPC shops, fees, crafting mats |
| DC | Account DC Wallet | Purchases, vouchers, transfers | Store, marketplace DC listings, gifts |
| Social Crystals | Inventory item | Bounty, faction war, streaks, tasks, store packs | Map gates, high-tier crafting |
DC and Social Crystals both connect to the store, but they are not interchangeable balances. Buying a crystal pack adds inventory items; spending crystals never debits your DC Wallet.
Planning tips
- Prioritize earn loops that match your play style. Hunters should track bounty alerts; scheduled PvP players should block faction war time; streak-focused accounts should push day 21 and 30 milestones.
- Budget before you travel. If you are on a free account, check whether your route crosses a crystal-gated destination and carry enough crystals — or upgrade premium to bypass map gates.
- Price crafts before you farm mats. Tier 5+ gear can need up to 30 crystals per attempt on top of ingots and gems. Use the recipe page totals, not just metal costs.
- Keep inventory space for bonus payouts. Daily-task and streak crystals are bonus drops that fail quietly when bags are full.
- Do not confuse faction war with bounty. War kills pay war crystals at the end of the event; skull kills pay bounty crystals immediately on claim. War zones do not replace bounty rules — read both pages before hunting.
- Track stock over time. Crystals are valuable for maps and endgame crafts — plan earn loops and spends rather than treating them as disposable loot.
