Quick Create vs Advanced
How to choose between Quick Create and Advanced character creation without overthinking your first character.
The first big choice is not a class choice. It is how much control you want during character creation.
Choose Quick Create if you want to play soon
The Quick Create card is marked Recommended and 2 Steps. Its UI description is:
Pre-configured combo — shuffle, pick your look, play.
In Quick Create, you work mainly with:
- Name
- Build
- the build shuffle button, shown with the tooltip Shuffle build
- the name roll button, shown with the tooltip Roll a new name
- appearance arrows, labeled Previous sprite and Next sprite for accessibility
- Standard Mode
- I want to customize everything →
Quick Create starts from a preconfigured faction/race/class combo. You can still change the visible build tokens before continuing.
Choose Advanced if you want every step separated
The Advanced card is 4 Steps. Its UI description is:
Full control over faction, race, class & appearance.
The four Advanced step labels are:
- Basic Info
- Build
- Community
- Appearance
Advanced separates these labels and controls:
- Character Name
- Faction
- Race
- Faction Bonuses
- Race Bonuses
- Class
- Game Mode
- Select Variation:
- Previous
- Next
- Create & Enter Game
Game mode labels shown in creation
Character creation may show these dropdown labels:
- Standard Mode
- Permadeath Mode
Read the tooltip before selecting a mode, because the visible label and the risk/reward description are what matter for your character. Standard Mode is the default-looking option, while Permadeath Mode is the high-risk choice.
Confirmed tooltip text:
- Standard: “+35% XP Gain” / “Inventory, skill and equipment loss on death are possible after a certain level”
- Permadeath: “+80% XP Gain” / “Your character is DELETED on death”
If you are unsure, choose the safer default-looking mode first and save Permadeath for a character you are comfortable losing.
Adventure or farming variation
When available, character creation also shows Select Variation: with:
- Adventure Mode
- Farming Mode
Use Adventure Mode if you want the standard adventuring path. Use Farming Mode only if that is the version of the game you intend to focus on.
Practical recommendation
For your first character:
- Pick Quick Create.
- Confirm the Name is at least 4 characters.
- Review the Build tokens.
- Use I want to customize everything → only if you know you want separate faction, race, class, and appearance steps.
- Continue to Community, then use Create & Enter Game.
