Maps, Transitions, and Weather

How map layers, object layers, transition validation, non-PvP zones, GPS, time, and weather work for players.

By Definya Team

Maps power gameplay spaces, transitions, NPC placement, item placement, and navigation tools such as Mini Map and GPS Navigation.

Map layer names

Shared map types define these render layers:

  • ground
  • over-ground
  • decoration
  • character
  • over-character
  • over-character-decoration
  • roof

Required gameplay object layers include:

  • NPCs — townsfolk, traders, monsters, and other creatures placed on maps.
  • Transitions — tiles/objects that move a character to another map or position.
  • Items — item placements.
  • Roofs — roof visibility behavior.

Some maps include protected non-PvP zones where attacks can be blocked.

Transition flow

A transition has a destination map and position. When triggered, the game checks the move and places the character at the destination.

Transitions include normal map changes, non-PvP zone movement, same-map teleports, transition start/finish states, and failed transition messages.

If a requirement is not met, the transition is blocked and the player receives an error message.

Common transition restrictions

Transitions check several access rules:

  • Temporarily blocked destination maps return: “This map is temporarily blocked due to technical issues. Please try again later.”
  • Some transitions can require a premium account type; if your account is not allowed, the error says a premium account of the required type is needed.
  • Some map-to-map moves can require social crystals; the generic failure says: “You do not have enough social crystals to proceed to this map.”
  • Training grounds allow only one online character per account at a time. If another character from the same account is already there, the game blocks entry and explains why.

Non-PvP zones

Non-PvP zones are protected areas within a map. When your character enters one, PvP attacks are stopped inside that protected area. This is zone-based; it does not always mean the whole map is non-PvP.

Mini Map and GPS

Player-facing labels include:

  • Mini Map — minimap menu button.
  • GPS Navigation — GPS button and modal title when no route is active.
  • GPS (Navigating) — GPS button title while a route is active.

The GPS button opens GPS navigation when map data is available.

Time periods

Shared time periods are:

  • Morning
  • Afternoon
  • Night

The game sends regular time and weather updates.

Weather values

Shared weather values are:

  • Standard
  • SoftRain
  • HeavyRain
  • Snowing

Random global weather is usually Standard, with SoftRain appearing sometimes. Some map areas can override global weather.

Weather visuals appear on maps that support dynamic lighting. Some maps can override the global weather, including snowy areas.
