In-Game Tutorials and Hints
How Definya onboarding works — level-based lesson pop-ups, first-time contextual hints, farming vs adventure paths, and what tutorials do not cover yet.
Overview
Definya teaches systems through two layers:
- Advanced tutorials — multi-slide lessons with images (and sometimes embedded video) that open in a modal.
- Simple hints — short one-time tips tied to a specific action, such as planting your first seed.
Tutorials are educational only. Completing them does not grant XP, gold, items, or achievements by themselves. They point you toward quests, crafting, and UI labels that do pay rewards.
Each tutorial or hint is shown once per character. After you dismiss it, the game will not repeat that lesson on the same character.
When tutorials appear
First login (new character)
When you create a character and enter the world for the first time, you receive an Introduction lesson:
- Adventure Mode characters get the standard introduction (combat, healing, hotkeys, community links).
- Farming Mode characters get a farming-focused introduction at creation instead.
See Game Modes for how Adventure and Farming paths differ.
Level-up lessons (levels 2–12)
After you gain levels, the game may open another advanced tutorial about two seconds after level-up so the screen is not flooded with combat and UI events at once.
Standard Adventure progression roughly maps levels to topics:
| Level | Tutorial topic |
|---|---|
| 1 | Introduction (at creation) |
| 2 | Fishing |
| 3 | Blacksmithing |
| 4 | Lumberjacking |
| 5 | Farming |
| 6 | Quests |
| 7 | Crafting mechanics |
| 8 | Depot storage |
| 9 | Marketplace |
| 10 | Party play |
| 11 | Gem attachment |
| 12 | Premium account features |
Farming Mode follows the same level 3–12 topics after its farming introduction. Level 2 may repeat the introduction lesson in farming mode — treat it as a refresher if you see it twice early.
First-time action hints
Simple hints fire the first time you perform specific actions. Active examples include:
| When you… | Hint topic |
|---|---|
| Plant a seed | Planting basics |
| Water a plant | Watering crops |
| Buy seeds from a trader | Seed shopping |
Hints appear once, then stay silent on repeat actions for that character.
What advanced tutorials cover
Advanced lessons explain UI flows and where to click next. Typical slide topics include:
- Introduction — movement, combat targets, healing items, hotbar setup, links to Discord/WhatsApp and official video content.
- Fishing — rods, bait, selling fish to NPCs.
- Blacksmithing — mining, smelting, hammer-on-anvil use-with.
- Lumberjacking — axes, wood outputs, board crafting.
- Farming — seeds, watering, harvest timing (pairs with Farming and Plants).
- Quest — quest list labels, accepting objectives, tracking progress (Quests and Daily Tasks Overview).
- Crafting mechanics — Crafting Book categories and tying crafts to quests.
- Depot — storing overflow items (Inventory, Containers, and Depot).
- Marketplace — player listings and buy orders (Marketplace Buy Orders and Listings).
- Party — grouping benefits (Party, Guild, and Chat tutorial).
- Gem — attaching gems to equipment (Rarity, Gems, and Weight).
- Premium account — premium perks overview (DC, Premium, and Vouchers).
Tutorials are available in multiple client languages (English, Portuguese, Polish, Spanish). Images are shared across languages; text is localized.
What tutorials do not cover yet
There is no guaranteed level-based tutorial yet for some mid- and late-game systems, including:
- Spells and spellbook depth (Spells and Magic Overview)
- Guilds and territories
- Daily tasks and scrolls (see Quests and Daily Tasks Overview)
- Raids and bosses
- Pets
Use wiki pages, Tutorials, and the Information Center and Bestiary for those topics until dedicated in-game lessons exist.
Tutorials vs quests vs daily tasks
| System | Purpose | Repeats? | Rewards? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Advanced tutorials & hints | Teach UI and core loops | Once per character | No direct rewards |
| Story quests | NPC objectives and gear spikes | Some quests repeatable | Items, gold, XP (quest-specific) |
| Daily tasks | Personalized daily goals | Resets midnight UTC | Items, gold, XP, scrolls |
Quest givers often send you to the same activities tutorials describe — for example, blacksmithing quests after the level 3 smithing lesson. Treat tutorials as guided tours and quests as rewarded homework.
Tips for new players
- Read the Introduction slides before skipping — hotkey and healing slides prevent early deaths.
- When a level-up tutorial opens, finish it before starting a long travel route; depot and marketplace lessons save inventory headaches later.
- Farming Mode players should still read level 6+ quest and crafting slides — daily farm tasks and scrolls stack on those systems.
- If you miss a popup, check quest NPCs and wiki links inside related pages rather than expecting the modal to return.
