Spell Tomes and Learning

How automatic spell learning, spell tomes, gold costs, rarity upgrades, and tome drops work.

Spells can be learned through level-based progression and through SpellTome items.

Automatic spell learning

Definya can add eligible spells when your character reaches the required level and meets class, race, level, and spell requirements.

Your learned spell list can update as your character becomes eligible for more spells.

Learning from spell tomes

When you use a spell tome to learn a spell, the game:

  1. finds the spell for that tome
  2. validates whether your class or race can learn it
  3. checks whether you already know it
  4. calculates the inscription cost from tome tier and rarity
  5. checks your inventory gold
  6. adds the spell and rarity-based spell bonus data
  7. deducts gold
  8. consumes the tome only on a successful learn or upgrade

If your class or race cannot learn the spell, the confirmed message is:

Your class or race cannot learn this spell. Sell it on the marketplace to earn some gold!

If you do not have enough gold, the message includes the required gold amount.

Already learned spells and upgrades

If you already know the spell, a tome can upgrade the spell’s bonus only when the tome rarity is higher than your existing learned rarity.

If the tome is equal or lower rarity, the confirmed message is:

You have already learned this spell at an equal or higher rarity. Sell it on the marketplace to earn some gold!

Tome costs

Current tome costs:

  • base cost per tier: 750 gold
  • Common multiplier: 1.0
  • Uncommon multiplier: 1.5
  • Rare multiplier: 2.0
  • Epic multiplier: 3.0
  • Legendary multiplier: 5.0

Inscription cost is based on tome tier and rarity.

Tome drops

Spell tome drops are tier-based. Confirmed base drop chances by mob tier are:

  • tier 1-5: 2.5%
  • tier 6-10: 2%
  • tier 11-15: 1.8%
  • tier 16-20: 1.2%
  • tier 21+: 0.8%

Confirmed spell-tier ranges by mob tier are:

  • mob tier 1-5 → spell tier 1-2
  • mob tier 6-10 → spell tier 2-4
  • mob tier 11-15 → spell tier 3-5
  • mob tier 16-20 → spell tier 4-7
  • mob tier 21+ → spell tier 6-10

Bosses have a 3x spell tome drop multiplier.

Rarity and compatibility weighting

Confirmed tome rarity distribution:

  • Common: 90%
  • Uncommon: 7%
  • Rare: 2%
  • Epic: 0.75%
  • Legendary: 0.25%

Drop weighting favors spells your character can learn:

  • compatible class/race tomes: 10x weight
  • universal tomes: 3x weight
  • incompatible tomes: 1x baseline weight

Incompatible tomes can still drop, which supports trading through the marketplace.

Premium bonuses

Confirmed premium spell tome drop multipliers:

  • SILVER: 1.15x
  • GOLD: 1.3x
  • ULTIMATE: 1.5x

Confirmed premium rarity upgrade chances:

  • SILVER: 5%
  • GOLD: 10%
  • ULTIMATE: 15%
